Happy New Year!

As this year draws to a close, I look back on the year and can’t believe the fun, the laughter, and the love our family has experience this year! It was another banner year and I am looking forward to 2012 and the big things in store for our family of four!

The boys enjoyed shooting some fireworks tonight!

I’m not much of a resolution maker, but there are some things I want to work on and do for and with our family in 2012. Now to put those on paper…

Happy New Year from the Browns!

Wishing you and yours a very blessed 2012!

she thinks my tractor’s sexy

We’d had the boys gator (aka, tractor) inside since Christmas. They’ve had a ball just playing on it, little did they know it actually drove! Today Nick put the battery in it and they were off for a test drive.

By default, Bates gets to be the driver cause Brodie can’t reach the gas peddle!

They will be out crusin’ the neighborhood this summer looking for the ladies!

(and yes, they are outside in their pjs!)

Bates’ 20 questions on his 3rd birthday

This was downright my favorite thing we did! I cannot wait to continue this year after year!

1. What’s your favorite thing to eat? cupcakes. could have something to do with the fact we were eating cake.

2. What’s your favorite color? red.

3. Who is your best friend? Brodie. awwwww.

4. What do you and mommy do together? go shopping. I kid you not, that is what he said! And actually said it in a whisper!

5. What do you and daddy do together? do tools.

6. What do you want to be when you grow up? daddy.

10. What’s your favorite book? BeeBimBop.

11. What’s your favorite game? the duck game. a game Santa brought and the only board game he’s ever played!

12. What’s your favorite toy? daddy. this one made me smile!

13. What’s your favorite animal? “moooooo” guess he meant cow.

14. What makes you happy? he didn’t answer this one. I don’t know if he didn’t understand or was just tired of our questioning.

15. What makes you sad? again, he didn’t answer this.

16. Where do you like to go?  go play.

17. What’s something mommy says to you? “I love you”

18. What’s something daddy says to you? “Bates, tackle!”

turning three!

So I love birthdays. It’s a big ole special day around these parts!

Here’s a play by play of our special day and someone turning three. It will be like you will all be virtual with us all day!

The birthday boy’s door was streamed while he (and mommy) slept!

DSC_0167

He had the BEST time tearing it all down!

DSC_0170DSC_0171DSC_0172

Bates fielded several phone calls through out the day. I was his personal answering service most of the day. Oh and his secretary since he also got lots of facebook messages!

DSC_0176

We loaded up to meet daddy for a donut breakfast.

Little brother had a hard time sharing the spotlight. This child thinks the world revolves around him.

DSC_0178

Bates insisted on wearing his birthday hat in for donuts, which made me laugh, and got Bates some extra doughnut holes!

DSC_0181

Little brother’s world got better once he realized he would be reaping the rewards of birthday day too!

After breakfast we stopped at the battlefield to take some birthday boy pictures. (and some little brother and his “buppie” too!)

When did my baby get so big, he’s like a 7 year old. And oh how I love him!

Then back home to pop birthday balloons! Three years = three balloons = three dollars!

DSC_0219DSC_0222DSC_0226

When daddy came home for lunch it was time for birthday cake and presents!

Does someone look excited?!

DSC_0231

Oh and don’t forget the birthday hat!

DSC_0232

DSC_0233DSC_0235

And yes, the sprinkles spell out “bates”. Uncle William used tweezers to put the sprinkles on and spell the birthday boy’s name!

DSC_0242DSC_0243DSC_0244

Then as we were eating cake we asked Bates his 20 questions for his birthday. This was absolutely my favorite time of the entire day. He was so cute answering them and really did a surprisingly good job. I will do an entire post on the questions and his answers.

And then presents! This boy is digging the never ending presents!

DSC_0252DSC_0254

DSC_0257

He got REAL golf clubs from Mom and Dad and some practice golf balls from Brodie.

DSC_0260DSC_0261DSC_0265

DSC_0263DSC_0266DSC_0267

Brodie was somewhat dangerous with a real golf club! They will have to stay put away that’s for sure. Bates put the bag on his shoulder and went and put them up, right beside his daddy’s golf clubs!

DSC_0271

After nap time, it was mail time for the birthday boy and more phone calls!

Whenever anyone would tell him “happy birthday” he would respond with “happy birthday!”

And if you ask him whose birthday it is, he’d say “bates’” not Bates or mine, but bates’. Smart boy!

DSC_0272DSC_0273

Then off for some bouncing fun!!

DSC_0289DSC_0282DSC_0292

DSC_0297DSC_0303

And our buddy Olivia and her parents joined us!

DSC_0304

There was a bit of drama with a little girl like 9 ish years old. Long story shorter is she kept jumping at Brodie and screaming and scaring the daylights out of him! He was terrified! The first time she did I told her that it scared him and please don’t do it again. She followed him into a jumping thing and did it again. Well, well, well… momma don’t play that. So I climbed all up in the jumpy house (shoes and all), scooped him up and told her I asked her once not to do that and if it happened again I would tell the workers and she would have to be removed from the bounce houses!  After a pout session in the corner and a look from you know where as she stormed by me, in comes her daddy and her and an employee. Turned out she told them I said I was going to slap her. For the love of pete! I did not say that although I might have wanted too! Well, chick-a-dee had gotten in a little tiff with her friends and one of them told her that and she got her stories confused. After all the dust settled, the employees where very apologetic and before we left her mom came over and asked me what happened and made her apologize, meanwhile daddy gave us the evil eye the entire time! What a drama fest!

William got the boys into the Wind Tunnel that has winds up to 74 miles per hour. The boys LOVED it! They were squealing with delight!

DSC_0314DSC_0315DSC_0317

DSC_0319

Then they got Olivia in on the action! She wasn’t a fan and held her daddy’s hand through the door and then decided to get on out!

DSC_0322DSC_0321

DSC_0324DSC_0326

DSC_0323DSC_0325

Then off to dinner and games at Chuck E Cheese. Bates was very adamant he did not want Chuck to be there! He is not a fan on that guy! Uncle Anna met up with us.

DSC_0329

The boys played lots of games while we waited for our pizza.

The boys’ favorite was this new monster truck! It was huge!!

DSC_0343DSC_0345DSC_0350

And finally, home… after a long and busy birthday!

Measuring the birthday bout on our new ruler.

DSC_0353

Look how much he has grown in a year!!!!

DSC_0357

And last thing- a candle for his birthmom. I let Bates blow it out and hope our wish for her happiness makes it all the way through the night sky to her!

Three whole years! I cannot believe my son is 3! I am the luckiest mom in the entire world!

Looking forward to another year and celebrating each and every day with my Bates!!!

Happy Birthday buddy, I couldn’t love you more!
