So I love birthdays. It’s a big ole special day around these parts!
Here’s a play by play of our special day and someone turning three. It will be like you will all be virtual with us all day!
The birthday boy’s door was streamed while he (and mommy) slept!

He had the BEST time tearing it all down!

Bates fielded several phone calls through out the day. I was his personal answering service most of the day. Oh and his secretary since he also got lots of facebook messages!

We loaded up to meet daddy for a donut breakfast.
Little brother had a hard time sharing the spotlight. This child thinks the world revolves around him.

Bates insisted on wearing his birthday hat in for donuts, which made me laugh, and got Bates some extra doughnut holes!

Little brother’s world got better once he realized he would be reaping the rewards of birthday day too!

After breakfast we stopped at the battlefield to take some birthday boy pictures. (and some little brother and his “buppie” too!)

When did my baby get so big, he’s like a 7 year old. And oh how I love him!

Then back home to pop birthday balloons! Three years = three balloons = three dollars!

When daddy came home for lunch it was time for birthday cake and presents!
Does someone look excited?!

Oh and don’t forget the birthday hat!

And yes, the sprinkles spell out “bates”. Uncle William used tweezers to put the sprinkles on and spell the birthday boy’s name!

Then as we were eating cake we asked Bates his 20 questions for his birthday. This was absolutely my favorite time of the entire day. He was so cute answering them and really did a surprisingly good job. I will do an entire post on the questions and his answers.

And then presents! This boy is digging the never ending presents!

He got REAL golf clubs from Mom and Dad and some practice golf balls from Brodie.

Brodie was somewhat dangerous with a real golf club! They will have to stay put away that’s for sure. Bates put the bag on his shoulder and went and put them up, right beside his daddy’s golf clubs!

After nap time, it was mail time for the birthday boy and more phone calls!
Whenever anyone would tell him “happy birthday” he would respond with “happy birthday!”
And if you ask him whose birthday it is, he’d say “bates’” not Bates or mine, but bates’. Smart boy!

Then off for some bouncing fun!!

And our buddy Olivia and her parents joined us!

There was a bit of drama with a little girl like 9 ish years old. Long story shorter is she kept jumping at Brodie and screaming and scaring the daylights out of him! He was terrified! The first time she did I told her that it scared him and please don’t do it again. She followed him into a jumping thing and did it again. Well, well, well… momma don’t play that. So I climbed all up in the jumpy house (shoes and all), scooped him up and told her I asked her once not to do that and if it happened again I would tell the workers and she would have to be removed from the bounce houses! After a pout session in the corner and a look from you know where as she stormed by me, in comes her daddy and her and an employee. Turned out she told them I said I was going to slap her. For the love of pete! I did not say that although I might have wanted too! Well, chick-a-dee had gotten in a little tiff with her friends and one of them told her that and she got her stories confused. After all the dust settled, the employees where very apologetic and before we left her mom came over and asked me what happened and made her apologize, meanwhile daddy gave us the evil eye the entire time! What a drama fest!
William got the boys into the Wind Tunnel that has winds up to 74 miles per hour. The boys LOVED it! They were squealing with delight!

Then they got Olivia in on the action! She wasn’t a fan and held her daddy’s hand through the door and then decided to get on out!

Then off to dinner and games at Chuck E Cheese. Bates was very adamant he did not want Chuck to be there! He is not a fan on that guy! Uncle Anna met up with us.

The boys played lots of games while we waited for our pizza.

The boys’ favorite was this new monster truck! It was huge!!

And finally, home… after a long and busy birthday!
Measuring the birthday bout on our new ruler.

Look how much he has grown in a year!!!!

And last thing- a candle for his birthmom. I let Bates blow it out and hope our wish for her happiness makes it all the way through the night sky to her!

Three whole years! I cannot believe my son is 3! I am the luckiest mom in the entire world!
Looking forward to another year and celebrating each and every day with my Bates!!!
Happy Birthday buddy, I couldn’t love you more!
